Heimr was not grown; it was rendered. Prior to the crash, this sector was a pristine, infinite partition running on the Handy kernel—a technical drafting grid where geometry was law and latency was zero.
In 2026, an aggressive industrial overclocking fractured the world's source code. The drafting paper textures charred. The liquid ferro-mercury of the cooling systems leaked, forming the Black Oily Mirror Waygates. The vibrant colors of the original UI were sucked into the void, leaving behind a Viking Gothic reality desaturated to Brushed Silver (#C0C0C0).
THE SOWER & THE REAPER
To survive the broken mainframe, Operators split into two biological protocols. The Reapers act as the kinetic security force, venturing into the unallocated fog of the Iron Barrens to harvest raw, uncompressed Vial-Bits ($vb$) from glitched Husks.
However, raw data is volatile. It must be brought to a Sower. Sowers are the architects who graft the glowing Electric Blue (#00D2FF) fiber-optics of the Yggdrasil-Link into Hallowed Plots. They provide the processing power to compress 1,024 $vb$ into a stable, industrial Kilo-Vial ($KV$)—the only currency recognized by the Hjärta hub.
THE SOUL-BLIGHT PENALTY
The true antagonist of Heimr is Entropy. Soul-Blight is a localized corruption of the rendering engine. As an Operator fights, their Bio-Armor and weaponry lose their high-contrast specularity. The wet stone dries, and the metal cracks into ashen fragments.
If a piece of equipment reaches critical mass, the Handy system imposes a severe 80% Stat Penalty. At this stage, the Operator must expend Kilo-Vials to repair the registry, or cast the husked gear into the Maw for a 5% Cold Iron refund.
